THE MATTAS JOURNAL / BUYER’S GUIDE
5 things to know
before your next ride.
Before buying an ATV or side-by-side, look beyond the badge. A guide to capability, real value, and the people behind your machine.

THE SHORT VERSION
Buy the fit.
Understand the full price.
Before buying an ATV or side-by-side, compare five things: capability for your terrain, the complete price, standard equipment, local ownership support, and how the machine feels in person. Include CFMOTO in that comparison alongside the brands you already know.
If you’re like most buyers, you probably start with the brands you already know. Polaris. Honda. Yamaha. Can-Am. Kawasaki. That makes sense: familiarity helps you build a shortlist.
But it shouldn’t end the conversation. What features come standard versus extra? What capability will you actually use? Who will help you maintain the machine after the sale?
That’s where CFMOTO deserves a closer look.
“Too many buyers get hung up on the biggest name and miss what’s right in front of them: a quality, affordable machine backed by the kind of service that actually matters after the sale.”
JT Mattas, Owner · Mattas Motorsports
01 / VALUE
The most expensive machine is not always the smartest buy.
Price is one part of the decision. Compare the machine against the work you do and the places you ride. An impressive specification matters most when it solves a problem you actually have.
Start with your everyday use. For property work, look at seating, cargo-bed capacity, towing limits, and access around your land. For trail riding, compare dimensions, suspension, visibility, and comfort. Check the exact model year and trim: a familiar model name can cover very different configurations.
CFMOTO’s UFORCE utility side-by-sides, ZFORCE sport side-by-sides, and CFORCE ATVs give you different starting points. Choose the kind of machine first, then compare equipment and complete quotes.
For a concrete starting point, our comparison page looks at the 2026 UFORCE 1000 alongside Honda’s Pioneer 1000 Deluxe, and the 2026 ZFORCE 950 Sport alongside Yamaha’s Wolverine X2 1000 R-Spec. It identifies configuration differences and separates Mattas listing prices from manufacturer MSRP.
Compare CFMOTO equipment and published pricing02 / PRICING
The base price is only the beginning of the comparison.
The number in an advertisement may be a starting MSRP or a dealer’s price for a particular unit. Before comparing two numbers, find out what each one includes.
A roof, winch, doors, or other accessories can change your configuration and your total. Ask about freight, setup, taxes, and fees, too. A complete written quote gives you something useful to compare with another dealer’s complete quote.
On the 2026 UFORCE 1000 and 2026 ZFORCE 950 Sport, CFMOTO lists a roof, a 3,500-lb. synthetic-rope winch, and electronic power steering as standard equipment. That is a reason to inspect the equipment list closely, rather than assume you need to add every feature separately. Equipment varies by model and year. See the manufacturer source below.
If financing is part of the conversation, request the terms separately so you can distinguish the machine’s purchase price from the cost of financing.
03 / PERSPECTIVE
Give an unfamiliar brand a fair look.
It’s natural to lean toward what your friends ride or what you’ve known for years. But familiarity alone doesn’t tell you whether a particular machine is the right fit.
If CFMOTO is new to you, evaluate it with the same questions you would ask of Can-Am, Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, or Kawasaki. How does it feel? What does it include? What is the complete price? What support is available near you?
A brand’s country of origin doesn’t answer those ownership questions by itself. Look at the exact machine, written warranty terms, maintenance requirements, and the people who will support it locally.
Ask to see the warranty for the model you’re considering, including its term, exclusions, and how a claim is handled. Ask about parts and service scheduling. Those details help turn an unfamiliar name into a decision you can evaluate.
04 / THE DEALER
Your dealer is part of the purchase.
When you buy an ATV or side-by-side, you’re also choosing where you will turn for maintenance, parts, and help when something needs attention.
Before buying, ask who handles service, how appointments work, and what routine maintenance your model needs. If an accessory is important to you, ask about fitment and installation before assuming it will work on your chosen unit.
At Mattas Motorsports in Altoona, Pennsylvania, you can talk with the team about the machine and the ownership questions around it. Start with what you want to do, then work through the options together.

Meet the support behind your next machine05 / THE EXPERIENCE
Start the conversation before you make the trip.
Photos and specifications help you narrow the choices. Seeing a machine in person lets you judge seating position, visibility, controls, passenger space, and how easily you can get in and out.
Reach out first. Tell us what you’re looking for, what you currently ride or are considering, and your budget. Ask which models are available to view and whether a demonstration can be arranged.
Bring your questions about terrain, passengers, storage space, and the equipment you need. For property work, explain the jobs you want the machine to handle. For riding, tell us about the trails you have in mind.
The goal is simple: arrive with a useful shortlist and leave with a clearer understanding of what fits.
BEFORE YOU VISIT
A few common questions.
Should I choose an ATV or a side-by-side?
Start with how you want to ride, your passenger needs, your terrain, and the space you need for cargo. CFORCE is CFMOTO’s ATV family. UFORCE and ZFORCE are side-by-side families. Compare the exact model’s seating and capacities before choosing.
What is the difference between UFORCE and ZFORCE?
UFORCE is the utility-focused starting point for work and property use. ZFORCE is the sport-focused starting point for recreational riding. Features and dimensions vary across each lineup, so compare specific models.
Is CFMOTO worth comparing with Honda, Yamaha, or Can-Am?
Yes. Compare a CFMOTO model suited to your intended use with specific alternatives. Review included equipment, specifications, complete dealer quotes, warranty terms, and local service. Brand alone won’t tell you which machine fits your needs.
